This lively history of Sussex Cricket is written by a real enthusiast who has at one tome of another held every executive appointment in the Sussex Country Cricket Club. Some very famous names such as ‘Ranji’, ‘Duleep’ and C .B. Fry appear in its pages. The story of how county cricket was carried on any this club in the Second World War is unique. As in all the books in this series there are included a few statistics whereby the enthusiast can learn at a glance of some particular spectacular performance by a prominent player. Included in the illustrations to this volume is a hitherto unpublished portrait of the late Sir Charles Aubrey Smith, who achieved fame on the stage and in the films but was also very well known as a cricketer. this and many other of the illustrations have been reproduced through the kindness of the Sussex C.C.C. in whose possession the original pictures are.
