This book tells the story of David Copperfield, orphaned as a boy and cast out by a brutal stepfather to earn his living. At the age of ten, David is forced into a life of drudgery, poverty and loneliness.

As he struggles to make a life for himself, we meet his eccentric Aunt Betsey, his trusted friends, and the lovely Agnes. As the story unfolds we read of treachery and betrayal before he eventually finds fame and fortune as a writer and peace and contentment with his loved ones.
