Nancy Drew: Heart of Danger - Carolyn Keene

An undercover assignment draws Nancy out West when Texas rancher Robert Reigert receives a ransom note demanding half a million dollars for the return of his daughter, Catarina. The problem is, Catarina died in a plane crash fifteen years previously. Or did she? With the ransom note is evidence that she survived.

Posing as the ghostwriter of Reigert’s autobiography, Nancy finds that kidnapping is just one of his problems. To begin with, someone is trying to poison him. Then a stray bullet convinces Nancy she’s also in trouble. If Nancy doesn’t solve this case fast, she may lose more than her client.
