Memories of Britain Past

The middle of the 20the century – from the early 1930s, through the Second World War, to the end of the 1970s – was a period in which Britain changed perhaps more definitively and dramatically than at any other time in its long history. Historian and broadcaster Juliet Gardiner has studied this period extensively and in Memories of Britain Past she looks back at the key areas of everyday life – childhood, work, housing, entertainment and celebrations – and with the help of unique photographs from the Getty Collection, brings them to life again.
