For many people, Chessington iS synonymous with the zoo. But there is far more to the district than the World of Adventures. Take a trip down memory lane and peep beyond the concrete and mortar of the pre- and post-war estates.

You will discover another world of adventures in a delightful rural setting. Here, in these pages, re-live a life in a little community set among dairy farms, hay fields and meadows. Discover what it was like to be in a tiny village called Chessington before the developers moved in. In this other world, milk was brought to your doorstep and ladled into jugs; the post office was in someone’s front room and the bus to school was a farm cart pulled by a horse.
