The Southern Pacifics

Roger J. Mannion’s latest book provides a detailed, authoritative account of the design, development and operation of Oliver Bulleid’s remarkable locomotives. The author re-examines the career of the Southern Pacifics, looks closely at the business and engineering background of the locomotives, and compares them with other designs in order to give a fresh insight into a notable aspect of railway history.

Following an introduction to the historical background, the author describes the evolution and construction of the Southern Pacifics.
