Book Donations

I get a lot of emails and messages from people offering to sell me their books. I'm not buying books at the moment. Most of my stock comes from wholesale and donations, and I've got plenty to be getting on with. If that changes I'll update this page.

I am always happy to take donations though, and I mean any books. They don't need to be in good condition. Falling apart, water damaged, scribbled in, it's all fine. You don't need to sort through them first.

Anything I can sell, I photograph and list on the site. Anything that needs fixing, I repair. If a book can't be saved, I'll use it to make something else. I don't throw books away if I can help it.

Saving books has become a big part of what StrangeBooks does. A lot of books end up in the bin, usually because nobody had the time to find them a new home. I do make a small profit selling donated books. That money pays for my time, the packaging and the postage, and it's what lets me run the shop full time. The more books that come in, the more I can save.

If you're within about 10 miles of Basingstoke, I'll come and collect them.

Just email me at [email protected] and tell me roughly how many books there are and where you are. A photo helps if you can manage one. I'll get back to you and we can sort out a time.

Thank you.
