Before night falls someone will die.

In a deserted playground, a young Czech girl cowers by the swings. She has been missing for eight days. No-one knows what she has seen, and she is refusing to speak.

DCI Eve Clay is on her way to meet the girl, when another case is called in. Two migrant workers are dead, and a sinister message has been discovered at the scene: killing time is here, embrace it.
