After Pearl’s home is destroyed in the Exeter Blitz, it seems so are her dreams of performing on stage. Then she meets new pal Ivy who shares her desire for the spotlight. Before long, they are singing for the troops and drawing crowds.

It is everything the two could hope for when talent agent Gordon Gold offers them both a deal. But Pearl’s instincts tell her the man can’t be trusted and she turns him down. With a heavy heart, she watches Ivy depart for the bright lights. Will her friend be safe?

Ivy’s sudden return coincides with Pearl becoming ill and unable to sing. Now, her friend is her rival. Will Pearl ever become a star?
