Man of Everest by James Ramsey Ullman

Man of Everest

by James Ramsey Ullman

This is Tenzing Norgay's autobiography, told in his own first-person voice. It's the story of a boy herding yaks under the southern slopes of Everest and dreaming of climbing it, of working as a porter on the British expeditions of the 1930s, and of finally, on 29 May 1953, standing on the summit with Edmund Hillary. James Ramsey Ullman is credited with writing it but stays out of Tenzing's way throughout, which is why the book reads as Tenzing's own.
