Kush, the imaginary African nation, a large, land-locked, drought-ridden territory, is ruled by Colonel Hakim Félix Ellelloû. The good colonel has four wives, a silver Mercedes, and a fanatic aversion to the United States.

But the Ugly American keeps creeping up on Kush – with all sorts of strange repercussions.
