Venture to the Interior

In 1949 the British government sent Laurens van der Post on foot through two unmapped mountain regions of Nyasaland (now Malawi). What started as a survey expedition turned into something darker after a death on Mount Mlanje, and the book becomes a meditation on loss, unfamiliar territory and the African interior both physical and inward. Van der Post's second book and the one that established him as a travel writer of unusual depth.
